25 INDIANA MEMBERS CREDIT UNION BRANCHES SERVE AS COLLECTION SITES FOR 9th
ANNUAL SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE THROUGH JULY 19, 2013

  (Indianapolis, IN)  Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) and Foundation have partnered with Indy BackPack Attack along with the Children’s Museum, IPS, IUPUI, ProLiance Energy, UPS, YMCA, St. Vincent Health and other programs including Hendricks County BackPack Attack, Johnson County FastTrack Program, Franklin Township FastTrack, Carmel Clay Township Trustee, Noblesville Trustee, Muncie Mission, BackPack Attack through Salvation Army, Westfield “Open Doors Project”, Warren Township Common Goal and Zionsville Community Schools for their 9th Annual School Supply Drive through July 19, 2013.     

All 25 IMCU branches in Central Indiana will serve as public collection sites for the school supply drive, with bins in their branch lobbies during branch hours, through July 19th.  Some needed items for the drive include:  backpacks, erasers, #2 pencils, calculators, crayons, markers, spiral notebooks, pens, art boxes, pencil sharpeners, rulers, notebook paper, scissors, pocket folders, colored pencils, glue sticks, hygiene products, hand sanitizer, tissues, alarm clocks and composition notebooks (College Rule).

Indy BackPack Attack has collected more than 3.5 million school supplies since 1999 for children in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) as well as other schools in Boone, Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson and Marion counties. It’s reported that 88% percent of the families in the IPS school system need help with basic school supplies.  IMCU has partnered with programs inMarionand surrounding counties to provide underprivileged children the supplies they need to start the school year. 

Mandy Emery, Treasurer of Indy BackPack Attack and AVP Community Relations for IMCU, stated, “IMCU has been a proud supporter of the Indy BackPack Attack since 2004 and has served on the Indy BackPack Attack Committee for the past 5 years.  IMCU was founded on the campus of IUPUI over 56 years ago, and is passionate about supporting the education system and helping children succeed in school.  This is the reason we founded Indiana Members Foundation.  We continue to encourage other local businesses to help us in this effort to aid our local school children with their education.”
